4 Years of Grading Bullies High School Students

This is something I said years ago.  Giving grades, term after term, and year after year doesn't help. The grading system is the equivalent of bullying high school students.  It's no wonder why students choose to get high on drugs to cope with the grading system.  Not only that, but the grading system focuses too much on speed of learning, and not enough on long term memory, and real life problem solving.

I had no idea how bad it was until I worked at the Marine Biological Lab in Woods Hole, where Scientists, most of them with post doctoral degrees, needed reminders of the basics when it came time for peer reviewing other scientists.  If it is bad at a place that is considered more reputable than the Ivy Leagues, why haven't we put more effort in things such as study skills for the college bound folk?

Please teachers and professors of all kinds, stop focusing on how fast, and instead focus on retention related skills.  If it goes into the mind for a test, and pops out before the end of not just a semester, but after several years, that is something that should be taken into strong consideration.

The real test is should be one you can't prepare for, but comes at a completely random time.

Prohibiting Soda Consumption to those Under 18yrs Old

Image result for high fructose corn syrup

All ye teens, before you shake your fists in angst against me, have you actually met a middle aged adult that wouldn’t like to drop a few more pounds?  Soda consumption rates are a crisis in the USA.  Diabetes is an epidemic, even among the youth, unlike any previous generation has ever known.  It is my opinion that consumption of soda is probably worse for a body in the long term than consumption of alcohol, or marijuana, which is not to advocate for binge drinking, or smoking pot.  Therefore, it would be prudent to prohibit the age for soda consumption to be 18yrs old and above.

For some, I imagine this will be unpopular, especially those looking for his or her first chance to throw a riot in some city while taunting police officers.

There has been a long history of humans restricting stuff, especially for young adults, but even for adults.  There once was a time when there was no drinking age for alcohol.  Later, that age rose from 18yrs old to 21yrs old.  Thus, for young adults the restricted list has come to include lottery tickets, cigarettes, and booze among others.  Even adults are restricted when it comes to the consumption of prescription drugs.

Although I stand for it, I don’t claim that my argument is not without some problems.  I know some of the rebuttals.  The most important is the importance of learning responsibility.  That sounds good, as some may be able to link the raising of the drinking age from 18 to 21 as delaying young adults from reaching maturity, such that they are less responsible when they get to age 21 in college through lack of exposure.

Another argument is that any of those that are pro-legalization of substances use both the Bible and freedom as stepping stones to argue against this idea.  I have to laugh at those who say the right smoke is freedom.  IMHO, as a former smoker, there is no freedom in smoking because for the vast majority of smokers, their addiction would better be likened to slavery than freedom.

Unemployment Stats: I Blame Marijuana

One great challenge to the world's future is marijuana.  Marijuana undo's education, lowers IQ and damages young developing minds among many other things that are cited in a .gov article on the web.  I am very afraid of this plant because its users can see nothing wrong with it, which is probably a combination of addiction and poor judgement.  As I write this, more young adults smoke this kind of dope than cigarettes, and they are also proving themselves unable to do necessities, such keep a job.  This drug, and the poor judgment caused by it which leads others to harder drugs is in my opinion the holocaust of this generation.  I consider it very fearful because I believe that there is nothing more important than the mind.  Our large intellectual brains are what makes us special as a species, more than anything else. Look to birds for flight.  For speed look to cheetahs. But, for intelligence look to humans.

A quote from: http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuana

How Does Marijuana Affect a User’s Life?

Research shows marijuana may cause problems in daily life or make a person's existing problems worse. Heavy marijuana users generally report lower life satisfaction, poorer mental and physical health, more relationship problems, and less academic and career success compared to non-marijuana-using peers. For example, marijuana use is associated with a higher likelihood of dropping out of school. Several studies also associate workers' marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers' compensation claims, and job turnover.

Why I Don’t Like Cannabis

The problem with marijuana is that far more people are interested in smoking it as dope than the other usages of marijuana, which indeed can be good.  Do not delude yourself.  Smoking this kind of dope, marijuana, gives users motivation to find excuses that glorify this plant's usage.  How many people glorify pot who didn’t smoke it first?  My guess is very few.  This drug is at its worst when people’s judgment is so impaired that they can’t see anything wrong with recreational use of pot at any time.  The addiction in people is so strong that they find reasons to justify using this dope, while most dope smokers have never spent even close to the amount of time engaged in the so called positive uses of marijuana other than "getting high," which I believe are many, as most plants are useful, and everything has a purpose, even Satan.  People smoke the stuff, get doped up, and then forget to the motivation to accomplish any of the positive uses of marijuana.  And, when was the last time you heard of someone risking breaking the law to accomplish anything other than getting high on this dope?  If you have, then at least it is rare, and accompanied by recreational use.  The most disgusting aspect of marijuana is that people order their lives around it, glorifying it at virtually all costs.  When users are high then they are happy, but when users aren’t high, then they are planning the next time they are going to smoke their dope or they are promoting its usage either as a drug or trying to justify smoking because it has so many other uses.

The USA's Junk Yard Economy

Every year the Obama administration has been in office, the deficit, roughly a trillion dollars, has been an economic stimulus. That is the yearly deficit is the yearly stimulus. Folks does this seem to be working? Last I knew prices, were going up. Can't we see, as a nation that there has to be a better way.

Now, I am not about having the poor and the middle class foot the bill. Why? Because the government doesn't protect the money of the poor and middle class. Why? Because they don't have any money to protect. Rather, the 5% of us that the government works for, it is these folks that the government who should foot the bill. So, it is not as if I am demanding the money from the rich to go to the poor, but rather I am demanding that the rich pay for their own government.

I'll also add that when I see a lot of average people, I would collectively call them a bunch of junk. They don't deserve to have more money because they will just squander it on booze, and drugs, and likewise prices will go up. I don't have much hope for average folks, and by that I don't mean poor, middle class or even rich folks. What I am talking about is that the bar has been lowered for the people and that the very morals that folks are participating in are low class. No I am not homophobic, anti abortion, etc, but what I see is that America has turned to drugs, such as marijuana that when used is proven to result in poor judgment, and a general breakdown of the family as a sacred unit of society.

I'll also state that I strongly believe that the time to make cuts now, rather than later, even though I agree it will make things messy. The reason I believe that now is the time is that we have a huge amount of debt. We have so much debt that it is scarcely believable that we could pay off the current debt we have now in our lifetimes. The idea that we could actually get the economy on track for long enough, meaning generating an economy that can sustain cuts all the way, and not flop is unbelievable.

Put it this way. We are in the economic super bowl and it is half time and we are down by 70 points. The fortune of the game is written. It seems like winning is impossible, so what is our plan? My plan I learned from a long song by Sepultura in high school, "When you go down. You go down fighting." When your down and you've got nothing to lose, go down fighting.
